This is a quick post in which I want to share with you my green smoothie recipe. It is something I make for my husband and me every morning and we love it! You will simply feel much better in the mornings after you have your green smoothie than a typical coffee and a croissant. Why? Because you will get a tremendous amount of greens first thing in the morning. The first thing we eat on an empty stomach is best absorbed by the body.
Blending your greens in a smoothie will make their nutrients easily absorbable by your body. Greens actually contain some easily assimilated amino acids – good to build lean muscles. And with this smoothie you will also make sure you get an optimum amount of fiber – so important for digestion and ongoing cleansing!
The best part is you can make this smoothie the night before and have it the next morning or two. You can also freeze portion sizes and thaw them the night before you want to consume them.
So here is what you will need for this green smoothie (Serves 2)
Ingredients:
- 140g spinach
- 1 head of romaine lettuce
- 2 celery sticks
- 1 banana
- 1 apple
- juice of ½ lemon
- ½ glass of filtered water
Method:
Insert all ingredients in the blender and blend until you reach a smooth consistency.
Enjoy!
Note: this smoothie is very versatile. I actually change the spinach for kale when in season, or add chard and other greens. Rotate the veggies for optimum nutritional intake, and for some fun.

Hi Brittany! Just skip the banana all together and add more apple. If you need to make it a bit sweeter you can add a date or two. Hope this helps!
